We have all heard of a skincare routine and how important it is to protect and take care of the skin on our faces, but what about the rest of our body? Skin is the biggest organ of the human body, so its important to take care of and keep clean. The skin on your face and body differ in various ways like how the skin on our face is a lot thinner than the skin on our bodies. Another example being the skin on our face takes less time to heal vs. the skin on our body due to many blood vessels and oils glands close to the surface to repair damage. That being said due to the thinness of skin on the face, it cant take as harsh ingredients that will disrupt the delicate balance of the skin. But the skin on your body can due to its vast amount of layers.
Due to the differences our types of skin have, they also require different care regimes and sometimes even products. Now note your body does not typically require any product to keep it healthy, but you can use products and routines to extend the care of your face and body. Self care should be on a person to person bases, there is no right or wrong way to do things. Do what makes you and your body happy!
Taking care of the skin on your face can be a tricky and fickle thing to try to deal with. Try using gentle products with minimal added chemicals and fragrances to not mess with the pH of your skin. Also try to avoid physical exfoliators like scrubs that can cause micro abrasions. Try out chemical exfoliators like products with AHA or Alpha Hydroxy Acid as an alternative.
Taking care of the skin on your body is not as tricky as taking care of the skin on your face. Not only is the skin thicker on your body, its also a lot dryer due to the lack of gland close to the skins surface (unlike the skin on your face). Body care products such as lotion tends to be a lot thicker and harder on your skin, because the skin on your body can take it. But if you try putting that lotion on your face you can come across clogged pores or even some skin irritation. If you would like a product for both your face, body, and even hair try a multi- oil! Its gentle on your skin but is great for moisturizing.
